I'm a Pagan and speculative fiction author, a professional blogger, and a musician. I'm proudly Canadian and proudly LGBTQ. My politics are decidedly left and if you ask for my opinion, expect an honest answer. I am owned by a cat. I used to work part time at a bookstore and I love to read, especially about faith, philosophy, science, and sci-fi and fantasy.

I’m going to go ahead and comment here because I can’t really comment on the actual blog post: Reading your post put a smile on my face and reminded me of some of the time I spent living in Canada for the past three years, especially while working for Ottawa’s branch of Acorn Canada.
I really hate Harper and his party myself, mostly because it was his and their new immigration changes that made it impossible for me to remain in Canada (I had about six months to go to apply for citizenship before they changed so much and increased everything required to become one). I really hope NDP wins or at least becomes the official oppisition with a non Conservative party winning – maybe things will get better – we can only hope.
One of the most important lessons I learned while living in Canada is the value of the power of voting. I’m going to vote for the first time during our election next year, and I would have never even bothered to do so if it wasn’t for my time spent in Canada.
Thanks for your comment, Robert! I’m really hoping things change here too. (PaganSquare requires that people make a login to post comments so they don’t get spam, but I understand that’s a pain, so I’m glad you came here to offer me your thoughts.) I hope you can come back sometime when the immigration laws are back to what some of us consider to be truly Canadian.
