  1. In the spring of 1965 I was dancing around that pole. I was 7. It was a serious rite, and my entrance into adult life. Sadly, the whole culture of which its as part ended the next year, when the modern world hit our valley. But I’m still there, dancing around that pole, learning, with Patsy, and Donna, and Marianne and Charlene, trying to get those darned ribbons right. Complicated, whew!
